Last Friday, 38 of the 43 health workers appeared at a hearing at the Branch 78 of the Morong Regional Trial Court. The hearing was called because of the motion of the Philippine National Police opposing an earlier order of the Court to have the 38 transferred to Camp Crame. The 38 were in high spirits, and posed with their raised fists (a move that will surely agitate M/Gen. Jorge Segovia who believes raising fists means your a communist). The court is expected to issue an order soon.
Earlier, various groups held different fund-raising activities for the 43, including a successful art sale and benefit gig. The Art Sale called Lunas generated a lot interest from different collectors. Meanwhile, the benefit dinner and gig First Aid held last April 15 gathered artists and supporters of the 43 at My Bros. Mustache in Timog, Quezon City.
Protest actions for the 43 are also continuing.
Today, relatives of the 43 start their fasting to press for the transfer of custody of the health workers. We start the fast at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani.
